Who We Are . . .
We are an AKC licensed club dedicated to promoting canine events including Conformation, Obedience, Rally, Agility, and Canine Good Citizen. We are purebred dog enthusiasts but we also appreciate the beauty and abilities of the mixed-breed dog. Whatever the breed, we strongly believe responsible pet ownership is of utmost importance.

2018
WCDFA recognized the extreme need for support in Puerto Rico during the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The club donated $1500.00 toward ongoing assistance to Save A Sato, located in San Juan.
The sport of purebred dogs is a family.
In North Carolina, the "Take the Lead" organization organizes fundraisers for members of the dog show community who are critically ill or who have suffered devastating losses. The kennel club donated $250.00 toward these efforts. The future of the sport lies in our young people. WCDFA donated one hundred copies of the Dr. Seuss book, "If I Ran the Dog Show" to local public and elementary school libraries.
2017
WCDFA recognized the need for equipment and supplies to maintain K-9 Officers in our counties. To that end, $250.00 was donated to Jackson County Sheriff's Department for their K-9 program. The club donated $500.00 to Macon County Sheriff's Department to assist with outfitting their two new K-9 Drug Officers.
The club donated $250.00 to the Veterans' Council of Western North Carolina toward a pre-deployment meal for families of deployed service members.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, WCDFA donated $1000.00 to Texas Friends for Life to assist with hurricane relief efforts for the animals affected by the devastation.
2016
WCDFA recognizes the emotional toll people suffer in the event of a fire. That event is compounded by the loss of a pet. Jo DuBose, WCDFA club member, recognized the need for action. She became aware of a drive launched by Country Lane Animal Hospital and the Animal Hospital of Waynesville to raise funds to purchase pet oxygen mask kits. This equipment enables fire and rescue departments to respond to animal victims who suffer from smoke inhalation and fire. In January 2016, WCDFA purchased 24 kits that were distributed to fire and rescue departments in Haywood, Jackson and Macon Counties. Hopefully this action will result in fewer fatalities for local pet owners. Well done Jo!!!!! <Click Here> for photo.
2015
WCDFA recognizes the spirit and dedication of countless dogs across the nation that work side-by-side with our police forces, often sacrificing their lives for our well being. It is with great honor that we were able to donate two K9 kevlar vests to the Haywood County Sheriff's Office and Waynesville Police Department this year. This was made possible through generous donations from John R. Havrilla, Fiona and Frances Norton, WCDFA club members and those of you that show up and support our Bark in the Park pet responsibility community event. Thank you so much for protecting K9's Valor and Lenny.
